be the heart of discovery: volunteer at SNCO
At Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory, volunteers are the lifeblood of our mission—to inspire and educate about the wonders of the natural world and space. Whether you're nurturing native wildlife, guiding curious minds through the cosmos, or cultivating our vibrant gardens, your time and talents make a lasting impact.
why volunteer?
Make a Difference: Contribute to environmental education and conservation efforts that resonate throughout our community.
Learn and Grow: Gain hands-on experience in animal care, astronomy, horticulture, and more.
Join a Community: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for nature and science.
volunteer roles
We have lots of different roles for volunteers at SNCO for everyone! Check out our ongoing volunteer opportunities here!
your volunteer journey starts here
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Most roles are open to individuals 16 and older, with Animal Care positions requiring a minimum age of 18. Youth ages 10–15 are welcome to volunteer alongside a parent or guardian. A background check is required for all volunteers. Volunteers receive discounts on programs, in our gift shop, and the Second Tern thrift store. Applications are accepted year-round, with most positions running seasonally from April to October. Once we receive your application, our volunteer coordinator will reach out to learn more about your interests.
