The XX large size Ponderosa Pine seedlings are ~10 years old and stand about 4feet tall. They come in a 10 gallon size pot. These seedlings are very heavy and may require more than one person to lift. Please note that special permission from SROA may be required to plant this size Ponderosa in Sunriver.
There is a strict limit of 1 XX Large size tree per household.
Ponderosa pines grow best in full sun and adapt well to a wide range of soil and growing conditions. They develop a deep taproot, making them very wind-resistant. They also become fire-resistant as they mature due to their thick bark. Detailed planting instructions with special tips to optimize success are available here.
Seedlings are cared for by local students and have been acclimated to a Central Oregon environment. Proceeds benefit Project Ponderosa's environmental education and habitat restoration programs.
